Sub-Acute Rehabilitation

Williamsville Suburban Nursing Home offers a wide array of Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Services that are available for your needs.  We offer Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy. Our friendly sub-acute rehabilitation staff will work hard to get you back up on your feet again.  Some of the specialized services we offer are below.

Hip fractures in the elderly population account for 350,000 hospitalizations each year and 60,000 nursing home admissions. Our caregivers recognize the consequences of osteoporosis and the need for appropriate therapeutic interventions to help with not only strengthening but also flexibility and balance. Those who undergo total knee or hip replacement require a skilled clinician who understands not only the precautions but also the expectations and can design and implement an appropriate treatment program. We here at Williamsville Suburban Nursing Home are capable of dealing with people that have undergone hip replacements and are in need of expert care, attention and sub-acute rehabilitation.

 Fall Prevention

One third of all seniors over the age of 65 have at least one fall per year.  Our therapy staff is educated in identifying and addressing fall risk factors. Our Nursing home do this by not only training patients in the use of devices to assist but also by improving the patient’s balance and coordination abilities.

Shortness of breath (dyspnea) is a common feature of many cardiopulmonary conditions. Our nursing home  therapists recognize the need to address a patient’s functional needs with these limitations in mind. We also routinely instruct patients in various techniques to relieve some of the distress of dyspnea.

Contrary to popular belief, dementia, while common, is not part of the normal aging process, however, some degree of forgetfulness is. Patients with dementia still require rehabilitation services for other conditions and treatment must be adjusted to accommodate their special needs. We specialize in dementia care for every level and we here at Williamsville Suburban have the staff and the knowledge to make a positive difference in the lives of people that suffer from dementia.

Neurological Rehab

After a neurological event (CVA, TIA, hemorrhagic stroke, Parkinson’s disease, etc.) patients require specialized care to have the best chance at restoring their function.

Complex Medical Problems

Often with aging, people develop several medical issues resulting in consequences that affect one’s independence and quality of life. Our nursing home’s rehabilitation, nursing, and social services departments must work together to facilitate safe, effective, and appropriate discharge plans for these patients.

Wound Care

The Williamsville Suburban nursing staff coordinates care with the wound care doctor and physical therapist to provide and modify treatments of pressure sores, diabetic ulcers, post-surgical wounds, and other types of skin issues.
